A total of 38 housing projects were registered with the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) this year till January 25. Data available on the state’s real estate regulatory authority states that most of these projects are located in Chennai, Chengalpet,Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts. As per the Tamil Nadu Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules 2017, all the ongoing housing projects with a minimum of eight units that are meant for sale should be registered with the state's real estate regulator. The real estate projects such as housing plots should be registered with the TNRERA. While 755 housing projects were registered with the TNRERA last year, it was 492 during the corresponding year of 2019.
