“Do not let the sexism get to you and just keep working towards your career growth. Good work finally gets appreciated irrespective of gender.” Bani G. Anand, Director - ATS Infrastructure Ltd and Founder & CEO, All About Eve"
Bani. G. Anand, with MSC in Real Estate Finance from Cass Business School and a one-year Diploma in Investment Management from the London Business School, started her career in real estate with Hines India Real Estate and after gaining experience and expertise joined her father in his flourishing real estate business at ATS Infrastructure. With ‘All About Eve’, Bani wants to ensure that women make informed decisions. The portal caters to every aspect of a woman’s needs from fashion, health, and wellness, food and beverage, home décor and beauty. How have you maintained synergies between professional and personal life? For now it helps to be working with one’s family as you get to spend time with them in and out of the office. I’m sure things might change once I’m married and have a family of my own. What are some of the career achievements that are close to your heart? I was awarded the DadaSaheb Phalke award for women empowerment last year and most recently I got appointed as the National Convenor for the Women’s Wing at CREDAI. What are the general perceptions about women in your field of career and how have you handled them? There are barely any women in the field of real estate and hence the perception usually is that we aren’t doing this by choice or that we aren’t doing this as a long term robust career option. People also believe that women only cater to the softer parts of the business like interiors and aesthetics and not areas like finance and construction that are conventionally looked after by men.
I hope that someday I’m considered a Grade A second generation developer on my own merit with great moral values and a larger geographical footprint. I also hope to encourage more women to be a part of this industry through my efforts with CREDAI Women’s Wing.
