Dr. Srikanth Sola, CEO, Devic Earth   How is air pollution endangering the urban cities inhabitants? According to WHO, 92% of world’s population breathes polluted air It causes 4.2 million deaths worldwide annually.  Air pollution in India has caused losses of up to Rs 7 lakh crore ($95 billion) annually according to a new report released jointly by UK-based non-profit Clean Air Fund, management firm Dalberg Advisors and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). This is 40 percent of the cost of tackling the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and about three per cent of India’s gross domestic product (GDP). Further, air pollution is associated with greater severity of COVID on the respiratory system. The losses caused by air pollution manifest themselves in six different ways. These include labour productivity (both in terms of absenteeism and presenteeism), diminishing consumer footfall, premature mortality, lower asset productivity and increased health expenses. Of these, air pollution affects business through three direct impact pathways: Premature mortality, loss of productivity and loss of consumer footfall. India is home to 22 of the world's 30 most polluted cities.  Asthma is the leading health problem faced by Indians. Not surprisingly, it accounts for more than 50% of the health problems caused by air pollution.   Brief on the concept of Pure Skies Technology Pure Skies is a unique technology that is power-run, plug and play. Involves no filters.  Based on AI. Uses pulsed WiFi to conglomerate particulate pollutants such as PM2.5(particulate matter having a diameter of less than 2.5 microns) and PM10(particulate matter having a diameter of less than 10 microns). They become heavy and sink to the ground. The process is called dry deposition. Dry deposition is a natural process, so what Pure Skies does is to actually accelerate it. The air is thus cleared of harmful pollutants such as PM2.5, PM10, etc.  Since the technology is path breaking and user friendly, it comes with benefits such as zero maintenance (since it uses no filters), reduced cost as a result, long life, zero interference with other activities, third person certification for safety and efficacy. The product is absolutely silent and its efficient cleaning contributes to good health, increased productivity at the workplace and greater financial returns, as a result.    How does the Pure Skies system clean the air for homes businesses? Pure Skies is extremely effective for ambient air pollution, and works well for homes and other indoor spaces such as offices, entertainment halls, and other work spaces.  Studies have shown that indoor air pollution can often be worse that air pollution outdoors, because of a lack of ventilation.  Pure Skies caters to a wide range of indoor spaces: homes, office spaces, entertainment halls, educational institutions, shopping malls and complexes, hospitality, event venues, among others.  It uses its unique technology (already explained in the previous point) to effectively clean the air.    Advantages of using Pure Skies in comparison to other air cleaners are –  Pure Skies comes with no maintenance. No retrofits or filters. No cost incurred in having to replace & dispose filters. It runs on just electricity. It is absolutely silent, very hassle-free. It is an extremely efficient plug and play technology. Pure Skies can cover extremely large areas, in comparison with any other air cleaner. It uses just a base station and extender units to cover extremely large areas, since the Wi-Fi signals can easily be transmitted by the extender units, to cover the span of the whole area. Also, it comes with a subscription plan for larger areas. This makes clean air extremely affordable, starting at less than a rupee a month per area square foot. The customer has the option of withdrawing at any point of time if they wish, without having to lose a lump sum.    What are the new innovations we can expect in tackling air pollution? In addition to the various state-of-the-art features that Pure Skies has, we’re looking at a future where AI has a greater role to play in our technology, and even towards a situation where we may be able to provide a personalised space of clean air for one that one may access through a mobile device.    With a trend towards cleaner, safer, and environmentally friendly ways of living, Pure Skies air pollution control systems are the answer for the future, for both the indoors as well as the outdoors. We just answered the question today, so that not just your children and grandchildren, but the people of today including yourself can benefit from this great idea.
