Anil Lala, Founder & Director of Fanzart speaks about evolving fans throughout the years, from the hand-held fans to the AC motor fans and to the recent BLDC motor fans.

  1. How has the fan technology changed in recent years and its awareness in India?

Technology, in fans, has evolved throughout the years, from the Punkah fans (hand-held fans) to the AC motor fans and to the recent BLDC motor fans. In the past, fans were just an electrical product and people never considered fans as a home décor product. With our introduction of designer fans, peoples mindset about fans have changed. In today’s world, people have started considering the ceilings as their fifth wall in the room and are looking to bring about an aesthetic element to it. In the coming years, we see the trend where almost everybody will aspire to have a designer fan enabled with smart technology.

The conventional fans have a blade angle of 4 degrees while Fanzart fans blade angles are between 8 to 12 degreeswhich increases air flow. The Fanzart fans also has unique Summer-Winter feature, where the fan spins anti-clockwise to give you a cool breeze and clockwise to give you a cosy warm air effect.

The recent trend is to combine energy efficiency with smart, intelligent and connected electrical appliances, where old inefficient induction motor fans will be replaced by super-efficient BLDC fans. The BLDC motor consumes 70%  less power as compared to the conventional AC motors as well as it increases reliability and efficiency and provides longer life to the fan.

  1. With the rising popularity of smart homes, the automation features/products introduced by the company ?

Fanzart fans can be integrated with existing home automation solutions. While the challenges today with respect to home automation are minimal, they are still inelegant. The challenges are:

AC motor fans: Automation solutions today propose automation ONLY to turn Fans ON/OFF as well as controlling SPEEDS. Automating fan’s speed control has been highly discouraged by the automation community because of the discomfort faced by the humming noise, which eventually leads to reduced longevity of the fan.

DC motor fans: are slowly getting more and more popular - due to the efficient & power saving nature, as well as the smaller form factor. Automation systems can only turn them ON & OFF with NO SPEED Control, as DC Fans DO NOT integrate with off-the-shelf Fan Regulators.

Features beyond motor: Fanzart fans also come with SLEEP options, dimmer, Multiple LED and our unique Summer-Winter feature (where fans spin anti-clockwise for cool breeze and clockwise for a cosy warm air effect). These are not currently home-automation integrate-able.

Fanzart, therefore, has come-out with a smart module that can turn ANY Fanzart fan into a Smart fan. The Smart module has solved the problem of automation integration with AC as well as DC Fans!! Furthermore, Fanzart is the first company to develop DC Fans with an on-the-wall interface for manual operation, along with Remote, App & Voice Control.

  1. Brief on the energy efficiency aspect of Fanzart products?

In today’s world, there is a gap between energy efficient fans that has parameters like design, quality, price etc.  We at FANZART aims at creating energy efficient fans with focus on design and qualityFanzart has introduced around 45 designs in ceiling fans that are powered by the BLDC motors that absorb 22-38W of Power. They all come remote controlled with Fanzart’s unique Summer-Winter feature, where the fan spins anti-clockwise to give you a cool breeze and clockwise to give you a cosy warm air effect.

Fanzart also has around 55 designs of AC motor fans that consumes about 65 – 70W as compared to the conventional fans that consumes about 80 – 95W of power.

  1. The key markets and the target audience for the company?

The B2C target market for Fanzart is

  1. The luxury segment,
  2. The upper premium segment

The B2B market for Fanzart consists of: Architect’s, Interiors, HNI’s, UHNI’s, luxury homes, corporate sectors and hospitality sectors.

The Target Market for the Bold Series (by Fanzart) is mostly the Premium Segment of the market.

  1. How do you see the fan industry and the market changing in coming years?

There has been a change from fans being an electrical product to a home interior product, that too - a luxury one. Accentuating home interior design, to a increase in blade angle where the fan displaces more amount of air, making the fans not-only Whisper quiet but also generating a rather luxurious breeze.

As more people are becoming aware of the energy efficient aspect of the fans. It is only natural that with time people shift towards the more energy efficient fans. The conventional AC motor fans consumes around 90W whereas Fanzart’ s AC motor fans consumes about 65 – 70W and our super-efficient BLDC motor fans absorbs only 22-38W of power. Hence, making our fans ideal for the new age. We are passionate towards providing the latest trends along with aspects like energy efficiency, design and the best quality of the fans.

The same way the LEDs revolutionised Incandescent bulbs, we expect fans to go through the same kind of revolution. We are happy to say Fanzart is at the forefront of this revolution.
