Wellington's first-home buyers are thinking small
Most first-home buyers understand that if you're buying at the bottom end of the market. But many may not realise that their big dream of getting on the property ladder in Wellington may involve thinking small. Last year, of the 628 apartments, flats and units sold in Wellington City for $500,000 and under, the median floor area was just 60sqm. The smallest Wellington property listed on Trade Me last year was 19sqm in Thorndon. A queen size bed is about 2m long. The house is still up for sale, with the owner seeking enquiries over $185,000.
