Space Matrix, the Singapore-headquartered workplace design and build consultancy, announced today the appointment of three key senior hires into its leadership team - Adam Mundy as its Global Design Director, Charlene Lee as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Rajeev Kumar as Director of Global Procurement and Project Management Office (PMO). In his capacity as Global Design Director, Adam Mundy will lead the design excellence and innovation in workplace environments for Space Matrix clients. He will work closely with the design teams across all of Space Matrix’s 14 offices globally to push the boundaries of creativity by bringing onboard his vast experience and expertise on global design trends. Adam has more than 20 years of experience in design where he spent 16 years working with M Moser Associates focusing on workplace design. In his last role at M Moser, Adam was based in New York and was the International Design Director where he developed strategies that captured clients’ vision and core values across various sectors such as technology, finance, law, and consulting. Adam has worked and lived in Hong Kong, New York, Singapore and Sydney and serviced clients across Asia, Europe and both North and South America. Adam has played a vital role engaging in business development, marketing and talent acquisition. He has conducted several educational seminars to provide creative direction and global exposure on trends and innovations in workplace environments. Following its recent expansion into China and successful acquisition of Interior design and construction company, Muraya, these new appointments further support Space Matrix’s plans to scale up efforts and expand its footprint across Asia. India has been one of Space Matrix’s key pillar markets with nearly 45% of its global revenue coming out of India and a staff of over 250 in the country alone. The firm has undertaken more than 120 projects in India over the last two years for key clients such as Airbnb, Eli Lilly, Gartner, ITC, LinkedIn, Piramal Realty, Schneider Electric and TransUnion. Commenting on the appointment, Arsh Chaudhry, CEO, Space Matrix said, “We look forward to leveraging Adam’s dynamic vision, phenomenal creativity and vast global experience to the benefit of our clients. Adam is a great addition to the leadership team and I am confident that he will help us raise the bar in terms of design standards not just at Space Matrix but across the industry.” He continued, “Space Matrix has been on an accelerated growth path. We understand that workplace transformation has a significant business impact and our understanding of this space in Asia puts us in a unique spot. We are excited to bring onboard senior personnel into the team, who we are confident will be of immense value to all our clients and partners across the region. In the first quarter of this year, our pan-India office space absorption saw a 23% year-on-year increase translating to 11.4 million square feet, and we see this as a massive opportunity. This fiscal year, we have more than 60 new projects underway and strive to grow 25% year-on-year.” Explaining the need for design strategies to be consistent in a globalized world, Adam Mundy said, “Asia has always excited me. Having spent most of my career here, I believe that the potential to innovate and create workplaces of excellence in this region is limitless. Several global firms are either setting foot into Asia or several Asian companies are entering new geographies. I strongly believe Space Matrix is a market leader in design and innovation and has a sound understanding of this region. I am excited to lead a team that is so diverse, dynamic and robust.” Adam holds a Bachelor of Interior Architecture from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Built Environment. Charlene Lee joins the leadership team as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will be based in Singapore. Charlene has more than 20 years of extensive business and finance experience, working with various Fortune 500 corporations across Asia and the Middle East. She brings with her a rich experience in business partnering from across various industries. Charlene holds an EMBA from Kellogg-HKUST, is a Chartered Accountant and a fellow member of ACCA from the UK. Also joining the team is Rajeev Kumar, who will be based in Singapore as the Director of Global Procurement and Project Management Office (PMO). Rajeev will be leading the global procurement initiative and implementation of all processes and delivery standards via the Global PMO. With more than 19 years’ experience, Rajeev has worked in various sectors in the real estate industry, including commercial offices, hospitality, industrial and construction projects. Most recently, Rajeev was with M Moser and prior to that, he was the India head of design and build business for Cushman & Wakefield. Rajeev holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, and Master of Building Engineering & Management from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. “Charlene’s and Rajeev’s respective roles as CFO and Director of Global Procurement and PMO are key to Space Matrix as they will ensure operational excellence at the highest level in their respective fields across our platform,” said Arsh Chaudhry.
