A 17th-century U.K. mansion with ties to the Lloyds banking dynasty, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and a modern-day hard cider operation hit the market Wednesday for £3.5 million (US$4.83 million). The nine-bedroom, eight-bathroom residence stands on about 40 acres in the hamlet of Pipewell in North Northamptonshire, roughly two hours north of London. Built in 1675, the materials go back even further, according to Simon Hawkesley, the CEO of the agency Mallory Irvine. “The limestone is from a monastery that was next door, Pipewell Abbey. So the bricks are from the 12th century,” said Mr. Hawkesley, who shares the listing with Ildi Toth and Jan Von Draczek of Fine & Country Stamford.  Known as Pipewell Hall, the home has a Grade II* historical designation, meaning it’s been deemed an important building of more than special interest, according to Historic England, an organization that works to preserve buildings
