Unrest in Kashmir affects road construction projects
Defence ministry officials said the ongoing unrest in the Kashmir valley has adversely affected the construction of roads in the strife torn state. "Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has suffered a big loss of over three months in the working season during the summers. This is of serious concern. Owing to restrictions on movement of vehicles and persons, the BRO has not made the desired progress," said an official. Similarly, the handing over of the Sinathan Pass- Anantnag road to NHAI will be postponed beyond the planned deadline of September.
