UltraTech Cement surpassed its EP100 goal for doubling energy productivity well ahead of its target timeline. The company made significant investments in energy efficiency across its manufacturing operations, including upgrading clinker coolers, implementing variable frequency drives to manage electricity flow and introducing new waste heat recovery systems.  EP100 is a global business initiative led by The Climate Group, an international non-profit organisation, in partnership with the Alliance to Save Energy, bringing together major companies such as UltraTech, Mahindra & Mahindra, Godrej Industries and many more with international headquarters.  UltraTech Cement is focussing on globally emerging technologies, changes to product and energy mix, digitisation and carbon pricing. It foresees the digitisation of its energy performance as a key enabler for identifying the best opportunities to save energy.  The 2020 EP100 Progress and Insights Report has revealed that by using the latest technologies, improving processes, and digitising their energy use in factories and offices, just 33 EP100 companies have avoided one billion metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2e) date – more than three times the annual emissions of the UK.
