Tata Steel BSL posts 9.4% increase in crude steel production
Tata Steel BSL, formerly Bhushan Steel Ltd, reported a 9.4% increase in crude steel production, which crossed the 4-million tonne mark during FY19. The company, which was acquired by Tata Steel in May 2018 under the NCLT-led auction of stressed steel assets, attributed the hike in output to higher mill availability with improvement in maintenance practices and uninterrupted raw material supply. In Q4FY19, Tata Steel BSL said crude steel production touched 1.02 mt (provisional figure) against 0.99 mt in Q4FY18. Tata Steel BSL has an existing capacity of 5.6 million tonne and was India’s fifth largest steel producing company as on March 31, 2018. It is also one of the largest suppliers of automotive grade and high carbon steel in the country.
