The state cabinet on Friday cleared common building rules for the entire state which would now allow commercial buildings to come up along roads with a minimum width of nine metres. The existing rules allow such buildings in cities only on roads with a width of more than 10m. The state cabinet gave its nod for introduction of the Tamil Nadu Common Development Promotion Rules for Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, Town and Village Panchayats, 2018 with a few changes to the draft rules. The new rules will bring the entire state under the same set of development regulations and facilitate single window clearance for construction projects.
