State to convert plastic waste into building tiles
Govt seeks help from Dr R Vasudevan, better known as ‘Plastic Man of India’; plans to use the tiles to build toilets under Swachh Bharat mission. The waste collected as part of the plastic ban in the state will soon be turned into construction tiles which will be used to build toilets under the Swachh Bharat mission. The state government has sought help from Dr R Vasudevan, a scientist popularly known as the Plastic Man of India, who developed an innovative method to convert plastic into durable and cost-effective construction units, to help with the initiative. Dr Vasudevan will soon hold training sessions for government officials on how to go about converting the collected waste into ‘plastone’. The plastone, which is made from a mixture of plastic waste and stones, can withstand high pressure and prevent water from seeping through.
