SoftBank eyes boost in Indian solar manufacturing
Japan’s SoftBank Group Corp is considering a manufacturing joint venture in India that could produce the solar panels. “ SoftBank strategy for India includes solar panel manufacturing,” said Manoj Kohli, executive chairman of SB Energy. Narendra Modi seeks 100 gigawatts of solar capacity by 2022. The country’s manufacturers need to ramp up production in order to tap into the growth. “ To build large scale manufacturing efficiency matching Chinese economics of scale will require government support,” said Manoj Kohli.
