Sodium vapour street lamps into LED lamps in Trichy
The much-awaited project to convert the remaining sodium vapour street lamps into LED lamps in the city has been taken up by the Trichy Corporation. The move is aimed at ensuring better illumination and energy efficiency. Already, sodium vapour lamps on arterial Bharathidasan Road to LED lamps were converted a few days ago through the smart cities mission fund and the remaining work across the city is likely to be completed within the next three months. So far, 75% of the street lights including sodium vapour and fluorescent tubelights (FTL) have been converted into LED lights. The corporation will now revamp the remaining street lights in all 65 wards at an outlay of 23.40 crore.
