Rooftop solar power plant becomes operational
The first phase of the rooftop solar power project has become operational in the Chennai Airport. “The solar power plant, built at cost of Rs 8.5 crore, would bring down the power tariff by half. Currently the airport pays a tariff of Rs 20 crore to the state electricity board. The solar power plant would generate 6,150 units a day and reduce carbon emission by 3,600 tonnes per annum,” said Deepak Shastri, Chennai Airport Director.
