Record cement concrete work at Kaleshwaram
Kaleswaram project has achieved one more milestone on Sunday when a record extent of 17,722 cubic meters of reinforced cement-concrete (RCC) work was executed at Medigadda barrage in 24-hour period, from 8 a.m. on Saturday to 8 a.m. on Sunday. According to the project engineers, the execution of huge quantity of work at Medigadda barrage surpasses a record set in the construction of Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh earlier this year when 16,368 cubic meters of plain cement-concrete (PCC) work was done in the 24-hour period. Stepping up the pace of execution of work on the project follows a direction given by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao last week. At a review meeting held on December 22, the Chief Minister wanted the work agencies and engineers of the Irrigation Department working on the project to speed up execution of work so that all the three barrages and five pump houses, which are key to make the project functional, are in a position to lift water from Godavari river by June next.
