Rajasthan High Court on Thursday sought report on fire-fighting preparedness of the local bodies particularly in the high-rise buildings across the state and made the UDH department a party to the petition. The division bench Justice M Rafiq and GoverdhanBardhar issued the order on a PIL by lawyer KunalRawat seeking policy and rules to strengthen the fire-safety measures. The petition was filed in January 12 last year following fire incident at a house in Vidhyadhar Nagar which claimed lives of five members of the family. The petition said according to the rules there should be a fire station for every 40,000population in cities.
