Plans Afoot To Set Up Construction Varsity in Hyderabad
Roads and Buildings Minister V Prashanth Reddy said efforts were on to set up a construction university on the National Academy of Construction (NAC) premises, Madhapur. To this effect, already a three-member committee was constituted and based on its recommendations, a decision would be taken by the State government, he said here on Saturday. The Minister said a decision was taken to offer one-year special post-graduation education under the aegis of NAC for all those, who had completed B.Tech course. During his visit to NAC, the Minister inaugurated new Solar Training Lab set up by Schneider Electric India Foundation and Hydraulics Mechanic Lab set up by L&T (CMB) and interacted with the sponsors. He visited the Construction Equipment Training Yard for interaction with the construction equipment industry partners (JCB, VOLVO, AJAX, IESC, L&T (CMB)), and awarded course completion certificates and offer letters to JCB trainees of NAC. He also handed over tool kits, which were sponsored by Saint Gobain Gyproc, to two successful NAC Drywall False Ceiling trainees turned entrepreneurs. The Executive Committee approved the audited financial statement of NAC March 31, 2021 and Balance Sheet as on March 31, 2021. It also approved the NAC Budget Estimates for the year 2021-22, besides the Action Plan for the year 2021-22 for conducting skill training to 20,500 persons. The target includes skill development for 4,500 unemployed youth and for skill upgradation for 12,000 construction workers. It also approved enhancement of salary ceiling to certain category of NAC contract employees.
