Over 100 dilapidated railway residential quarters demolished
Railways carried out a massive demolition drive on Friday afternoon, razing as many as 108 quarters lying in a dilapidated condition from Railway Colony No.10. Railway officials claimed that despite the poor condition of the quarters, people were living in them and ignoring the warnings of railway officials to vacate them by a given period of time. Thus, railway officials swung into action and demolished all the dilapidated structures from the colony. The drive was also conducted to vacate areas where non-railway employees were living illegally. The department will carry out more such drives in the coming days, and unsafe quarters in other colonies will also be demolished.
