Beating the incessant rains of the past three days that brought the suburban city to a standstill and almost closer to the 26th July, 2005 catastrophe, brave Mumbaikars once again showed their mettle and cherished the spirit by participating in huge numbers in the city's most popular Kanakia Monsoon Marathon Challenge (KMMC) 2019 held in Mumbai today. The eighth edition of KMMC 2019 witnessed around 4,000 Mumbaikars across the age-groups who poured out on the streets of Bandra-Kurla Complex amid heavy morning rain spells to participate in the Marathon. Undeterred in their resolve to run for the city, people from every nook and corner of Mumbai overwhelmingly participated in the marathon in three different race categories - 5km, 10km & Half Marathon 21km. An initiative by RunIndiaRun, KMMC 2019 is a qualifier for leading marathons in India. The race also witnessed some inspirational runners like Amarjit Singh who is visually impaired and the oldest female runner Kala Soni (72 yrs) who ran 10km. The youngest male runner was 10 years old and participated in the 5km run, while the oldest male runner was 72 years old and ran 10km, whereas the youngest female runner was 11 years who ran 5km. "People of this great city once again showed their solidarity and will to surpass all the odds for a common cause", uttered a delighted and touched Mr. Himanshu Kanakia, a marathoner and managing director of Kanakia Group, who himself ran 21km Half Marathon.
