Land acquisition for Purandar airport to start soon
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the land acquisition process for the proposed Purandar airport would start “very soon”, putting fears of delays due to next year’s elections to rest. Responding to a text message, the chief minister said, “We will start the land acquisition process (for the project) very soon.” The process to acquire land was to start after Diwali and when enquired about it, the chief minister said all the land acquisition models will be reviewed and the talks with the land owners should be initiated for the proposed project accordingly. Earlier, while speaking at the Mhalunge-Mann Hi-tech City inauguration, the CM said to provide a boost to various infrastructure projects under the PMRDA, he would want to ensure better connectivity to the region. “We will put the Metro, ring road, hyperloop on track to ensure better connectivity to the proposed Purandar airport, which will definitely change the picture of the region completely,” Fadnavis said, adding that the Purandar airport will also bring a huge boost to the overall growth in the upcoming area under the PMRDA. Elaborating, he said, “We will see a “government companies’ consortium” for investment leverage, which will be from 3-5 government firms that will form a consortium. The talks are in the last stage.” Asked whether the companies have been finalized, the CM replied in negative. “No, they have not been finalized as yet,” he said. The CM also emphasized for an “airport city” to ensure good planned growth around the airport area. “When I was in the area, I noticed boards mentioning about plots to be sold near the airport. While it is a good sign, a planned development would definitely change the face of the area,” he added.
