India’s steel production grows
India’s steel production grew at 8.5 per cent to 7.8 million tonne in September 2016. According to data from 66 countries reporting to the Brussels-based World Steel Association, world crude steel production grew by two per cent in September 2016 at 132.9 mt compared to September 2015. In the first nine months of 2016, India produced 72 MT of steel growing 5.9 per cent over the same period last year. While Asia produced 825.9 MT of crude steel, an increase of 0.6 per cent over the first three quarters of 2015, according to World Steel.
