Himachal cement prices on a rise
Cement prices have risen by Rs 15 to Rs 20 in the state in the last few days. The rise in prices of cement has become an election issue. The price of cement bag in Himachal has risen from Rs 345 to Rs 350 per bag to Rs 360 to Rs 375 per bag in the last few days. The cement companies have been maintaining that the prices of cement were high in the state due to high transportation tariffs in Himachal. In Himachal the transportation of cement was controlled by transport unions that charge high tariffs from companies as compared to transportation charges in other states. The state government had been maintaining that since cement was an unregulated commodity the government cannot intervene in its pricing.
