German refrigerator manufacturer Liebherr has reported that majority of the sales in India come from the Delhi & NCR region. North India accounts for close to 40 % of the sales for Liebherr India, with Delhi & NCR in the lead, followed by Punjab and Haryana and other surrounding catchment areas, it said in a statement. According to a trends report from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) the Indian luxury market grew from 14.7 billion dollars (Rs 96,751 crores) to a whopping 18.6 billion dollars (Rs 1,18,498 crores), at a growth rate of 25 per cent year-on-year. Burgeoning aspirations and a growing sense of ‘brand-consciousness’ are driving growth of luxury sector in India. India has always been an important market for Liebherr and the company is keen on exploring new opportunities to realise its potential here, the company said. Liebherr confirms that there are new sets of consumers in New Delhi & NCR as well as other cities like Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandar, Kanpur, Agra, Bhopal and Lucknow which are home to a rising number of affluent Indians some of the richest Indian families. Liebherr believes that the Indian market is ripe with possibilities, which instills confidence in the group about its India operations. According to a recent report by Transparency Market Research (TMR) on global electrical appliances market, the country’s rising household income, improving living standards and availability of lucrative product offers are definitely contributing in this journey. Sharing his inputs on the Indian market, Mr. Radhakrishna Somayaji, Chief Sales Officer, Liebherr Appliances India Private Limited said “Spending on kitchens of homes now average around ?40-50 lakh in the country, and therefore, we believe there is a market for premium appliances to complement those kitchens!We have observed more than 80-90% growth in sales year-on-year in the North India Market since the last 4 years. Our key clientele mostly belongs to major cities in North India like New Delhi & NCR, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Ghaziabad, Agra, Kanpur, Varanasi, Aligarh, Jaipur, Jammu etc. We expect demand to pick up in the coming season and are gearing up for the ensuing summer during which we plan to launch new models in Refrigerators for the mass premium segment.”
