Flyash bricks likely to get costlier by around 10% in Indore
Increased cost of transportation amid constraints in getting raw material supplies are likely to push cost of flyash bricks by around 10 per cent. Flyash bricks used in real estate and infrastructure projects are currently being sold at Rs 5 per piece, which is expected to get costlier by close to 10 per cent, according to industry players. Flyash brick manufacturer Gurmukh Ahuja said, “The cost of raw material is rising sharply while transportation cost is also escalating owing to high fuel prices. Overall cost of production has gone up and may rise further if raw materials are not made available easily.” According to Fly Ash Bricks Manufacturers Co-Operative Society, cost of flyash powder — raw material for making bricks — has gone up to Rs 500 to Rs 600 per tonne as against Rs 400 per tonne about eight months ago. According to manufacturers, cost of raw material and transportation for one tonne of flyash has gone up to Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200 per tonne.
