German manufacturer Enercon has signed cooperation agreements with three Indian companies to provide repair, maintenance and servicing to its turbines in India.

The non-exclusive agreements are with Renom Energy Services, Kinech Synergy and Powercon Ventures India.

Enercon will supply spare parts to the three companies and provide them with technical support needed for turbine maintenance in India.

The German company has more than 6700 machines in India with total capacity of 4.8GW.

“However, a lack of maintenance and spare parts have already caused hundreds of these wind turbines to cease operation,” said Enercon.

It added that legal disputes, which have now been resolved, had prevented the company from operating in India in recent years.

Enercon managing director Hans-Dieter Kettwig said: “Together with our Indian service partners, we will protect the interests of wind park owners, investors and banks which finance wind energy projects in India.”

The company added that it is also assessing options to offer its latest generation of wind turbine technology to the Indian market.
