Civic body asked to give details on 25-hectare land in Aurangabad
The high court on Thursday soug ht details from the civic administration about the current status of the 25-hectare land in Naigaon near Jalgaon Road which was allotted to the civic body for waste treatment in 2005. In its judgement dated March 9, 2018, the high court had asked the chief secretary of Maharashtra to file a report on the non-compliance of the HC’s 2003 order on closing the Naregaon dumping yard and shifting the garbage depot to another location. Subsequently, a report was submitted by the additional commissioner rehabilitation, divisional commissioner’s office Aurangabad to the court. The report was presented following the findings of a committee comprising officials from the divisional commissioner’s office, district collector’s officer, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and Aurangabad Municipal Corporation. The committee was headed by additional commissioner Mahendra Harpalkar. Advocate Pradnya Talekar said that the report, that was sought from the chief secretary after inquiry, was filed by an additional commissioner. “The chief secretary asked the divisional commissioner to file the report who in turn asked the additional commissioner in his office to prepare the report. The report did not speak of the main issue of fixing responsibility for non-utilisation of land allotted at Naigaon for 13 years,” said Talekar.
