General manager of BSNL-Visakhapatnam, Paul William said that the telecom company plans to lease out its vacant quarters and buildings to other organisations and had called for an expression of interest (EOI). William said uninterrupted customer services would continue even though a majority of employees had taken voluntary retirement. The department, he said, has taken measures to maintain services by requesting staff who have opted for the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) to work till an alternative arrangement was made. Addressing the media here on Thursday, William said that 576 staff members, including 495 non-executives and 81 executives, had opted for VRS in the district. Services of some subcontractors would also be utilised at the sub-divisional level.
