AP government likely to dredge sand from Dowleswaram
The state government is mulling dredging sand from certain areas in the Dowleswaram barrage if the shortage continues. Gudivada Amarnath, Anakapalli MLA and YSRC spokesperson, said this on Saturday. Addressing the media, Amarnath said the sand shortage was resultant of torrential rainfall as a result of which 80% of the 270 odd sand reaches in the state have become inoperable. He stated that the crisis was not man- made. Criticising Pawan Kalyan for being a puppet in the hands of TDP, Amarnath said, “As an actor Pawan Kalyan, popularly known as power star, acted for various banners. Now in real life as a politician, he is acting only for the banner-‘Nara Productions’.” He accused the Jana Sena chief of being a TDP agent stating, “he has unfortunately made the transition from power star to package star. It is ironic that the long march of the Jana Sena is being held in Gajuwaka at a time when his partymen were abandoning the party in droves. This will be its final march.” When asked if the state government was considering importing sand, Amarnath replied, “financial constraints are proving to be a deterrent.”
