Union steel minister Chaudhary Birender Singh would inaugurate a 120MW power plant which utilises waste gases from the blast furnace at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to generate electricity. The power plant was built at a cost of Rs 677 crore and is the first of its kind in the Indian steel industry, RINL officials said. The minister would also visit the coke ovens, blast furnace-3, steel melt shop-2, and wire rod mill-2.
