The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) Limited is setting up special planning unit to look into, monitor and help with all construction-related works for the new Pune airport project. Initially, the unit will have eight planners and architects. In addition to the Pune airport, this special planning unit (SPU) will handle MADC’s other aviation projects as well, said Suresh Kakani, the vice-chairman-cum-managing director of MADC. At first, the SPU’s office will be in Mumbai, but it can later be transferred to another location, said Kakani.
