Sanghi Industries to invest Rs 1,500 cr in Gujarat plant

Gujarat government on Tuesday signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Sanghi Industries Limited, GHCL (Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd) and Mahansaria Tyres Private Limited for their projects entailing a cumulative investment of Rs 3,710 crore.
The cement maker Sanghi Industries is going to increase the cement production capacity of its plant in Kutch from existing 4 million tonnes to 8.6 million tonnes per annum. “The company will invest Rs 1,500 crore for plant expansion,” the state government said in a statement.
GHCL Ltd will invest Rs 550 crore for setting up salt and marine chemicals plant in Kutch. The project will be operational by 2021.
GHCL also signed an agreement for expanding its soda ash manufacturing facility at Sutrapada in GirSomnath district. The brownfield expansion project cost is around Rs 600 crore.
Mahansaria Tyres will invest Rs 1,060 crore for a tyres tube and other rubber products project at Panoli in Bharuch district. “All these projects-new and expansion-will create employment for total 5,000 people,” the government added.
All the agreements were signed between top officials of the respective companies and senior government officials in presence of Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani, who asked all the companies to speedily operationalise their projects.
