As per the Government of India, the construction sector contributed 9% to the annual GDP and employed 51 million workers, making it the second largest employing sector in India,. Owing to the temporary nature of the work, these workers constitute the most vulnerable segment among the unorganized workforce in the country.Masons & construction workers often live in makeshift hutments next to the construction sites they are working in. With a limited understanding about safety at work, they risk their lives making our beautiful homes come alive
On top of that, once the building is complete they have to shift with their belongings to another construction site, fated to the same vicious cycle.
In a short video named ‘Ekgharaisa ho’itthanks these hands that made ‘Our India, Our home’. OBL is hosting ceremonies to respect & celebrate #HandsThatBuildIndiaacross the country.
Speaking on the campaign, Mr. Alok Agarwal, Chief Marketing Officer, Orient Bell Limited said, “We work very closely with masons. And this is our acknowledgment of their sacrifices to make our homes a reality. We want them to feel included and part of the strong labourforce that builds our nation making it great globally.”
