In first-of-its-kind initiative in Vidarbha, the board of directors of Smart City special purpose vehicle — Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) — on Tuesday decided to pay monthly house rent to project affected persons (PAPs) of the scheme till they are given new flats.
The move is likely to expedite works being carried out under the Smart City project.
The NSSCDCL board headed by BMC commissioner Praveen Pardeshi approved monthly house rent of Rs5,000 for PAPs whose residential structure is below 700 sq ft. PAPs owning residential structure above 700 sq ft will be given an additional amount of Rs7.5 per sq ft along with Rs5,000.
In case of commercial structures, monthly house rent will be Rs10,000 for below 700 sq ft and an additional Rs7.5 per sq ft.
Under the project which covers Pardi, Punapur, Bharatwada and Bhandewadi in East Nagpur, NSSCDCL has started to develop road along with all types of basic amenities like footpath, streetlights, storm & sewage water network, and duct for laying cable under tenderSURE concept at a cost of Rs650 crore. As many as 476 structures need to be acquited for the works.
