Giving relief to thousands of residential and commercial property owners, who are yet to pay the property tax for the last financial year, the Chandigarh municipal corporation has extended the date for the same for an indefinite period. The move comes in the wake of extension of lockdown until May 3. Earlier, April 14 was the last day for payment of proper tax.
The Municipal commissioner issued orders in this regard on Tuesday, after assessing the situation with the tax branch of the civic body. As per the corporation records, there are over 5,000 owners of residential and commercial properties, who are yet to pay the tax for the last financial year, ended March 31.
