Chamba District Vikas Jan Manch, an NGO, has advised veteran BJP leader and Kangra MP Shanta Kumar to stop giving frequent assurances to the people of the district in the name of setting up of much-awaited cement plant of Chamba.
The district convener of the manch, Swami Bhuvaneshwar Sharma, said the four-time MP and two-timer Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh should very well understand that the delay in setting up the cement plant showed lack of governance on the part of the BJP governments at the Centre and the state.
Sharma said the cement plant of Chamba was a flagship project mooted by the former industries minister late Kishori Lal, who also got it cleared from the government in 1979 when the Janta Party was in power. Now, a period of about 40 years was going to lapse, but the dream of Kishori Lal could not be fulfilled, he lamented.
“The issue of setting up the much-awaited cement plant in Chamba district has always been a major poll plank of political parties in the state in the run up to the Lok Sabha as well as Assembly elections”, Sharma regretted, warning that now no politician would be able to befool the unemployed educated youths of the region.
