Flag officer commanding-in-chief, Southern Naval Command (SNC) Vice-Admiral Anil Kumar Chawla handed over keys of the newly-constructed houses to three flood-affected families at CheriyaKadamakudy on Thursday.
The houses — built as part of the rehabilitation activities being undertaken by SNC after the August deluge last year — were handed over to Binu P P of PuliyalParambil house, Mariyamma of PashniParambil house and Joseph Antony of MadathilParambil house.
The houses, constructed at a total cost of Rs 28 lakh, were built as per specifications and suggestions of the house owners.
Each house has two bedrooms, a drawing room and a kitchen with modern amenities such as vitrified tiles in all the rooms and electrical fittings. The project was being steered by INS Venduruthy and has been completed in five-and-a-half months.
