To offer respite to individuals and enterprises hit by super cyclone Amphan, the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority of India, (IRDAI) issued guidelines to be followed by life and general insurance companies for expeditious settlement of claims arising out of damages caused by the natural calamity.
The general insurers have been asked to nominate a senior officer as a nodal officer for the affected states and would be coordinating the receipt, processing, and settlement of all eligible claims. Besides, it may also appoint a district-level nodal officer in each affected district to liaise with district administration.
