River sand imported from Malaysia is lying unused at Kamarajar Port in Ennore for more than a month. This has been the longest delay in opening sale since the government started importing sand from the Southeast Asian country last September.
Official sources of Kamarajar Port Limited said about 60,000 tonnes of river sand was imported in March. “This is the sixth consignment to the Ennore Port. The sand has been kept at the yard on the port premises,” an official told media. According to sources, the sand is of the highest quality.
