Builders’ Association of India (BAI), on Saturday, stated that the construction work being carried out in the district has come down by 30% this year and about 40% of their ongoing works were stalled due to the increase in cement price.
Developers in the state are urging the government to form a committee to regularize the cement price, apart from requesting the government to reduce the Goods and Service Tax (GST) for cement from 28% to 18%. If the GST is brought down, many people would come forward to construct buildings, it would not just bring business but also helps to create a lot of job opportunities in the sector.
