Colony takeover by Aug 31, realtors told to fix infrastructure gaps

The department of town and country planning (DTCP) has decided to transfer licensed colonies to MCG by this month-end even though work on deficit infrastructure in eight licensed colonies is far from completion. DTCP director KM Pandurang on Wednesday said the colonies would be transferred to MCG by August 31 at any cost. Earlier, the department had decided to carry out the handover of colonies by September 15. Pandurang has directed developers to strictly stick to the deadline set by the DTCP, and complete the deficit infrastructure development work. However, Ansal API and Unitech — the developers of Sushant Lok 1, South City 1 and 2, and Palam Vihar — have expressed their inability to complete the infrastructure work owing to fund crisis, while DLF and Suncity have agreed to complete the pending work within the stipulated time. Pandurang also said the department would carry out legal proceedings against the developers and attach their properties if they failed to complete the work within the deadline. During the meeting, Pandurang met developers individually and discussed the revised detailed project report (DPR) and the status of pending infrastructure work with them. The representatives of DLF, according to sources, told the director that the deficit development work was under way and that they would complete them by August 31. Road recarpeting is already going on in a few blocks. They also said other work would also start soon.
