Abandoned power cables hold up construction in Vatika Next

Plot holders in the Vatika India Next INXT project in Sector 83, on Monday, complained they were unable to secure possession, register their properties and raise any construction on their plots, due to the presence of an unused high-tension (H-T) power supply cable over it. The line, originating from a substation in nearby Shikhopur village across the highway, which was dismantled five years ago, was relocated underground following demands from owners of the neighbouring Sapphire mall. There are over 50 plots, each 240 sqyd or more, which are currently affected by the cables. Haryana VidyutPrasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) officials said they have already approved the permit for their removal, and that builder Vatikais supposed to do the needful. “I’ve paid the entire amount towards the plot to the builder by November 27, 2017. But over the past year, I’ve only been getting automated responses from the builder to my emailed complaints. I’m paying a monthly rent of Rs 15,000 just because I’m unable to build this house,” said Rajeev Julka, who has purchased the plot at J 10/19. Other plot holders told media they are unable to register their property due to presence of the H-T cables. “As per Indian Electricity Rules, 1965, the minimum limit between a building and a H-T line is 15m,” said one buyer, who did not wanted to be named. “Because of this, we are neither able to take possession nor register the property, or even build anything. Most of us have paid the entire amount, which is over Rs 1 crore.”
